Originally served in the Royal Navy. August 1944 transferred to the the Army, Durham Light Infantry. Permanently attached South Staffordshire Regiment 7 August 1944. Volunteered for the Commandos. 22 November 1944 posted Holding Operational Commando before No.3 Commando. Active service with No.3 Commando in Europe 1 March 1945 until 9 June 1945 when returned to the UK. Remained with the Commandos until November 1945 when No.3 Commando was disbanded. Subsequently served with the Duke of Wellington's Regiment in the Central Meditteranean Force and Middle East Force until 16 October 1946. Released to Reserve List 10 November 1946. Member of the Commando Association from Baswich, Staffordshire.
