Lawrence Ernest Page, a Joiners Apprentice from Cricklewood, London, enlisted into the Royal Marines at Lympstone on 20 August 1942. Commando service commenced 1 September 1943 when posted to the newly formed 44RM Commando. Served in 'A' Troop. Active service in the Far East (India, Ceylon, and Burma). 44RM Commando formed part of 3 Special Service (Commando) Brigade along with 42RM Commando and Nos. 1 and 5 (Army) Commandos.
