Harold Fox, a Furniture Salesman from Somerset, enlisted as a Trooper in the North Somerset Yeomanry 3 April 1939. At some stage after this he is transferred to the Royal Signals. He was captured 1 June 1941 whilst in 50 Middle East Commando and deployed to Crete as 'D' Bn., Layforce.
