Leslie Samuel Gibbens was a Metropolitan Police War Reserve Constable in 1939 and resided at Fulham, London. After volunteering for the Commandos in 1942 he was posted to the 1st Police Intake at the Commando Depot (Commando Basic Training Centre), Achnacarry. After his training he served in No.3 Commando for a few months before transferring to the Corps of Military Police.
