Arthur Robert Lawson was a Police Constable residing in Berkshire who volunteered for the Commandos in 1942 joining the 2nd Police Intake at the Commando Depot (Commando Basic Training Centre) at Achnacarry.
Post war rejoined the Police and In 1950 was a Detective Constable at Wokingham. By May 1967 he was Detective Superintendent and head of Berkshire C.I.D.
Member of the Commando Association resided Reading.

23.07.1942 enlisted General Service Corps (G.S.C.). Taken on strength Commando Depot.
24.09.1942 posted No.4 Commando. Transferred on file G.S.C to Royal Berkshire Regiment.
29.07.1943 appointed Lance Corporal No.4 Commando.
10.08.1943 attended course of instruction in Flame Throwing at Hempshott House, Hamps. 
24.05.1944 sustained accidental injuries in UK of moderately serious nature.
25.05.1944 admitted Bexhill Hospital.
03.06.1944 discharged hospital. Struck off strength X(II) List and returned to unit.
05.10.1944 No.4 Commando embarked UK for Belgium.
23.02.1945 embarked North West Europe for UK..
27.06.1945 posted to Holding Operational Commando.
20.07.1945 posted No.6 Commando at Hove.
03.08.1945 posted 2 Commando Brigade Training Wing.
25.08.1945 taken on strength 2 Commando Brigade HQ.
27.081945 posted Holding Operational Commando.
05.09.1945 posted to 'Y' List for release.
26.09.1945 relegated to Reseve List (W/T).
