In 1939 James McMekhan was a Metropolitan Police Officer residing in Hammersmith, London. He volunteered for the Commandos and on completion of commando training was attached to No.5 Commando in 1943. Active service included the Far East. Released from military service 20 August 1946. Post war member of the Commando Association last known residing Leswalt, Stranraer.
