In 1939 Leslie James Charles Hall, a Shipping Packer and Metropolitan Police War Reserve Constable, resided with his wife Ethel in Tower Hamlets, London. His Army Service number is amongst a batch allocated to Metropolitan Police Officers who volunteered for the Commandos in 1942 and who formed the 1st Police Intake at the Commando Depot (Commando Basic Training Centre) at Achnacarry. Some of these men were not deployed to commando units after their training but retained as Training Centre Instructors. His Medal Card indicates that Leslie Hall was possibly amongst this group.
