John Stow Young from Tain, Ross-Shire joined the Royal Marines 11 March 1941. Lieutenant Young, 46RM Commando, was wounded and a prisoner of war 11 June 1944 during operations at Rots, Normandy.

18.08.1944 to 22.10.1944 Oflag 79.
23.10.1944 to 01.11.1944 Marlag and Milag Nord.
10.04.1945 Forced 2 week march to Oflag XC. No transport or accomodation at night.
24.04.1945 to 02.05.1945 Oflag XC.
