William George Gay was a Metropolitan Police Officer in 1939 residing at Commercial Road Police Section House, Stepney. He volunteered for the Commandos in 1943 and was posted to the Commando Basic Training Centre at Achnacarry where he was retained on the staff after completing his training. Released from military service 24 October 1945.
Member of the Commando Association from Bognor Regis, Sussex. Buried at St Mary the Virgin Cemetery, Yapton, Arun District, West Sussex, England.
