15.05.1939 joined the Cumberland Constabulary.
12.06.1939 after police training at Whitehaven posted to Wigton.
01.06.1940 transferred to Kendal.
15.10.1942 commenced military service after volunteering for the commandos. 3rd Police Intake to the Commando Depot (Commando Basic Training Centre). Posted No.1 Commando.
23.12.1945 rejoined the Cumberland Constabulary.
12.07.1954 promoted Police Sergeant on 12 July 1954.
Member of the Commando Association (Penrith).
