Award Recommendation
"This NCO has taken part in 7 raids and has played an important part in the destruction of much enemy equipment. On a raid in January 1942 the activities of this NCO and an Officer caused the Mayor of Sirte to send to Tripoli for reinforcements. On this occasion he showed the utmost determination in the face of what appeared to be most formidable odds." Recommended by Lt. Col. A.D. Stirling DSO.

William Gordon Brough joined the Cheshire Constabulary on 9 January 1939 and was posted to Runcorn Division, collar number 75. Post war he rejoined the Police resuming service at Runcorn on 22 August 1945, resigning the following year on 7 December 1946.
