Walter Bacon, a Warehouse Employee from Bradford, enlisted into the Royal Marines on 22 February 1940. He volunteered in 1942 for the first Royal Marine Commando unit to be formed. Marine Bacon was captured 19 August 1942 during Operation Jubilee at Dieppe, France.
