Private Walter Branch, Royal Army Medical Corps, died during operations in Holland. He had volunteered to be a Medical Orderly for a 48RM Commando patrol to Veere on the North East of the island of Walcheren, and was one of twenty fatal casualties when one of their Buffalo amphibious vehicles struck a submerged explosive device.
