Sergeant Timothy Bishop died whilst on board a Landing Craft Tank during the allied invasion at Normandy, France. His body was returned to the UK on the Landing Craft. He was buried at Dosthill with full military honours. Son of Timothy Smith Bishop and Mildred Gladys Bishop, of Dosthill.
Timothy Roland Bishop was educated at Tamworth Grammar School. Prior to joining the Armed Forces he was employed at the Lichfield branch of the National Provincial Bank. His active service with the Royal Marines included participation in the North African campaign and the invasion of Sicily.
