Marine Thomas Simpson died during operations at Normandy, France. Son of Dinah Simpson, of Swalwell, Co. Durham[1]. He is recorded as dying on board HMCS Agonquin [2] which on D Day was stationed off the coast of St. Aubin-sur-Mer [3] providing fire support to the troops including 48RM Commando who were landing on Juno Beach.
