Thomas Parsons from Irvine, enlisted on 16 October 1939 having previously been employed at the ICI Nobel's Explosives Factory, Ayrshire. After volunteering Thomas was attached to No.3 Commando. He was reported missing 19 August 1942 at Dieppe, later confirmed a prisoner of war. His younger brother William also served in No.3 Commando and was captured with him during the raid.
