Captain Stephen Rose joined the Middle East Commando when it began to form at Geneifa in August 1940. He later became second in command of No.50 Middle East Commando [1]
28 March 1941 appointed second in command of 'D' Bn., Layforce when it was formed at Geneifa [2].
April 1941 injured in an accident with explosives losing 2 fingers in his left hand [1].
November 1941 to April, 1942 (Temporary Major) Mentioned in Despatches in recognition of gallant and distinguished service in the Middle East [3].
7 June 1951 (Major) (attached HQ 2nd Infantry Division) appointed M.B.E. (Military Division) [4].
