Obituary by Henry Brown OBE.
"Available space unfortunately does not allow all the excellent attributes Stanley displayed to be related but the great admiration everyone had for him during his many happy years must be recorded.
What a delight it always was to meet him, knowing as everyone did how he loved to involve himself so admirably in matters concerning the Association. His interest and desire to help whenever possible was always evident to all, and it is known just how much pleasure he derived from helping others.
For some years, Stan, as he was affectionately known, gave sterling service as the No2 Commando representative on the General Committee, and all concerned are well aware that to find another comrade with similar excellent qualifications will not be easy.
As for the awful illness Stan suffered in recent years and which finally took him, it is difficult to find words which adequately describe just how everyone felt for him. It was so evident just how much pain he was enduring but he never once complained and he would make light of his many trying hospital visits and the severe treatment he was undergoing.
Without any doubt, all Stan's relatives and friends and his many military comrades who greatly admired him, will for ever feel very privileged to have known him."
