Jack Buckley, a Roofing Tile Maker from Burton on Trent, enlisted into the Armed Forces on 15 January 1940 later volunteering for the commandos. He deployed with No.8 Commando for operations in the Middle East as part of Layforce. Subsequently joined the Special Air Service.
