Leading Seaman Edward Peasley, RN Beach Commando 'H', died by drowning in a diving accident in Genoa, Italy [1a][Notes B].
He had earlier received a Mention in Despatches for outstanding services in planning and carrying out an operation in the Arakan, Burma, in close co-operation with the Army .
We have a photo of him as a RN Commando serving with 'H', also known as 'HOW', section. [2 +4] 'How' section operated in both the Arakan in 1944 and Genoa in 1945 .
