Sergeant Patrick Ahern, 'E' Troop, died of wounds inflicted during operations on 23rd January 1945 to take Maasbracht and Brachterbeek, specifically when his Troop were ordered to attack and obtain a bridgehead on the Montforterbeek Dyke.
