Lieutenant Donald Murray served in 41RM Commando and the RM Holding Commando during WW2. In 1946 he joined the Foreign Office.

  • 1973 Donald Murray, lately Counsellor, H.M. Embassy, Tehran, appointed C.M.G.
  • 1974 -1976 Ambassador to Libya.
  • 1977- 1980 Assistant Under-Secretary of State, Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
  • 1980 - 1984 Ambassador to Sweden.
  • 1983 appointed K.C.V.O.
  • 1984 Retired from Foreign Service.
