Comments

"When our grandfather died, who Roy was extremely fond of, as the coffin was being lowered into the earth Roy placed his Green Beret on top so it was buried with our Grandad. Whether the 2 Commando dagger badge was on it I don't remember but knowing Roy it probably was - he cared very little for material things - for him his family and friends were all he needed. Roy was a great piano player and somehow acquired an accordion in Italy which he brought back with him at the end of the war. His nickname was Smoky. He served right through the Italian campaign Sicily, Italy, and Vis. He also took part in the Albania raid where he was quite badly injured".
