Private Ronald Banks, attached to Commando Group, was awarded the Military Medal in recognition of gallant and distinguished service in the field [1].
- 19 August 1942 (Private) No.3 Commando) was reported missing during operations at Dieppe, France, later found to be a prisoner of war [2].
- 3rd November 1946 commissioned Second Lieutenant [3].
- 14 December 1953 promoted Lieutenant [4].
- The death of Private (later Lieut.) R.D. Banks M.M., (3 Cdo.) of of Auckland, New Zealand, was announced in Commando Association newsletter 62 issued March 1976.
