Private Robert Macdonald, 4 Troop, was wounded on 15 April 1945 during operations in Italy (Lake Comacchio). Post war member of the Commando Association. He had fingers missing on both hands as a result of his war wounds. On 17 July 1996 Robert, aged 75, went missing from his home at Golspie, Sutherland. After a large air and sea search operation he was found a couple of weeks later having drowned in the Dornoch Firth.
