Richard Peter Wassell, aged 19, was commissioned Second Lieutenant 8 August 1942. Lieutenant Wassell was briefly reported missing in action on 11 June 1944 at Normandy, this report later being cancelled. He joined No.3 Commando in July 1944 serving with them until January 1945. Also served with 3 Commando Brigade in India and Hong Kong from May 1945 to July 1946. Post war member of the Commando Association from Edinburgh.
