Major Richard Livingstone MBE received a Mention in Despatches in recognition of gallant and distinguished service in the field [1][1a].
  • 5 May 1942 joined No.2 Special Boat Section from No.6 Commando, promoted Captain. Took part in many operations, notably the early landings in North Africa (Operation Torch). Was Chief Instructor of the SBS and by February 1944 was second in command [1][2].
  • July 1943 London Gazette - (Temporary Major) appointed M.B.E. (Military Division) in recognition of gallant and distinguished service [3][3a].
  • 20 January 1948, Captain, Special Air Service Regiment [4].
  • 28 February 1951, TA Reserve of Officers from Active List SAS, granted honorary rank of Major [5].
