Lance Sergeant Raymond Davies, 5 troop, was killed in action during operations at Lake Comacchio, Italy. Son of William Davies, and Suzan Elizabeth Davies, of Acton, Middlesex.
Mentioned in Despatches (posthumous) in recognition of gallant and distinguished service in Italy. Previously wounded 29 July 1944, this date being that of Operation Healing II at Spilje, Albania.
Raymond Spencer Davies was employed as a Factory Hand prior to enlistment into the Armed Forces. After volunteering for the commandos he was posted to No.2 Commando. During the period No.2 Commando were in Ayr prior to overseas deployment he was billeted at 105 Green Street, Ayr. He served at that time in 'B' Section No.3 Sub-Section and was No.2 on the Bren Gun.
