Sergeant Peter Henry Jones was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal for gallantry, skill, determination and undaunted devotion to duty during the landing of Allied Forces on the coast of Normandy. He was from Bournemouth and serving as a frogman attached to the Landing Craft Obstruction Clearance Unit (LCOCU) engaged in clearing the under water approaches to the beaches.
