Arakan
On 23 Mar 44 during 5 Commando's attack on the Spur at 383348 Lt Noble was sent out with one Sub Sec to evacuate the wounded who were lying in an open stretch of paddy, swept by enemy M.G. fire. Lt Noble went forward alone carrying a stretcher. He found Capt Kerr lying wounded on the ground and carried him back on the stretcher with the help of Pte Glenister who, as Capt. Kerr's batman, had remained with his officer.
Lt Noble went forward alone five times and evacuated all the wounded by carrying them on his back. On each occasion this officer had to move in full view of the enemy and was exposed to heavy MMG fire and sniping. Lt Noble displayed throughout complete devotion to duty and disregard for personal safety."
