Leslie Patterson 1 Commando
Lance Corporal Leslie Patterson, No.1 Commando, was Mentioned in Despatches for gallant and distinguished service in North Africa (Algeria and Tunisia). He was selected for officer training and left the commando. In 1946 Lieutenant Patterson died in Germany from injuries sustained in a jeep accident.

13-12-1940 attached 1 Special Service Battalion.
05-03-1941 posted No.1 Commando.
08-11-1942 disembarked North Africa (Operation Torch).
20-03-1943 promoted Lance Corporal.
02-05-1943 disembarked UK.
28-10-1943 approved as candidate for OCTU.
23-11-1943 attached Holding Commando at Wrexham.
12-01-1944 ceased to be attached No.1 Commando on posting to pre OCTU training.
29-07-1944 commissioned Second Lieutenant, Devonshire Regiment [3][7].
29-01-1945 promoted Lieutenant.
12-02-1946 disembarked North West Europe and taken on strength British Army of the Rhine.
17-03-1946 posted 4 Lincolns.
27-03-1946 reported dangerously ill whilst attached to the Lincolnshire Regiment, 4th Bn. and died 4 days later, cause of death dislocation of hip and multiple injuries. [2][4][5][6].
Son of Frank Leslie and Estelle Louise Patterson, of Kingston, Jamaica [4].
