Served as a Captain in Layforce. Later Brigade Major HQ 21 Tank Brigade. Awarded Bronze Star by the US President for rendering meritorious service in Italy from April to May 1945. Specifically during the crossing of the Santerno River and the subsequent operation to force the Argenta Gap. March 1958 Lieutenant Colonel Berry, assumed command of the Royal Horse Guards. Appointed O.B.E. (Military Division) in recognition of distinguished service in Cyprus for the period ending 30 June 1959. Member of the Commando Association from Basingstoke, Hampshire.
