Joseph Burt from Tillicoultry, Scotland, enlisted into the Royal Marines on 18 October 1939 previously employed as a Grocer and Paper Mill worker. Corporal Joseph Burt, attached to 47RM Commando from 4 Special Service Brigade HQ Signals, was taken prisoner of war on 7 June 1944 near Port-en-Bessin, France.
