Served in 5 Troop and later the Motor Transport Section of No.3 Commando. Also served in No.9 Commando. In 1947 he was residing in Moffatt, Dumfriesshire. By 1958 he had moved to Bulawayo with later moves to Salisbury and by 1977 Hararare.
