Lieutenant (Acting Captain) John Selwyn was awarded the Military Cross in recognition of gallant and distinguished services in the combined attack on Dieppe. [1].  
He returned safely to the UK after the raid and, after leaving No. 3 Commando, returned to his Regiment. Disembarked on D Day at Normandy with H.Q. 27 Armoured Brigade.
Transferred to the 6th Airborne Divisional Armoured Reconnaissance Regiment in Normandy as a Squadron Commander. He remained with this unit until the end of hostilities in N.W. Europe on the Baltic. [2]. 
Promoted Major, he retired from military service on the 10th August 1959 [3]
The death of "H.H. Judge (Major) John Jasper Selwyn MC (3 Cdo) of Maidenhead, Berks." was announced in Commando Association newsletter 105 issued September 1997.
