Recommendation
"In operations around Bova Marina between 27 Aug and 5 Sep 43, this officer was in command of a patrol of 6 men and a wireless set. He wa ordered to report on enemy activities around Mylito. Near that place they captured a prisoner on the 28 Aug and in the evening his party were attacked by about 45 Italians. He successfully withdrew his party to the top of Monta Tifia where he held out till dark. He kept his party concealed until relief came although they had little to eat but dried bread and figs. His patrol passed back more messages, whilst its wireless was still in action, than any of the other five thus contributing valuable information to our forces waiting to invade Italy. Throughout these operations the officer displayed powers of leadership, and a disregard for danger, and was an excellent example to soldiers under his command."[4].
