"Members visiting the continent who have the misfortune to get stranded at Folkestone should contact Sgt. J. F. Irvine (CBTC) at the C.I.D. Office, Hythe Police Station. He will ensure you don't have to " bivvy" down on the beach."

1951 moved to Kent Police after 4 years in the Glasgow City Police.
1952/53 played footbal for Tonbridge Football Club Reserves.
1953/54 played football for Tonbridge Football Club Team.
1955 Detective Sergeant at Hythe Police Station. Member of the Commando Association.
1957 Sergeant based at Chatham and member of the Kent Police Football Team.
1972 Det. Supt. James 'Jock' Irvine, aged 50 became head of West Kent CID, formerly DCI in the Regional Cime Squad.
1976 moved to Liverpool Port Police as Detective Chief Superintendent, Head of CID.
