Honours & Awards:

Recommendation
Pachino Peninsula, 10 July 1943.
As Troop Commander of 'X' Troop he was responsible for capturing the defences of point Castellazzo 887892. He showed exemplary conduct in leading his Troop in all phases of this Operation killing many enemy and capturing some 20 prisoners. He displayed coolness at a later stage whilst his Troop were under heavy mortar fire.
His bold and resolute leadership at this stage which led to the enemy resistance being speedily overcome in my opinion accounted for the very small number of casualties sustained by follow up Troops. (Recommended by Lt.Col. Lumsden RM, OC 41RM Commando) [2].
