Corporal Harold Wright, 2 Special Boat Section, was Mentioned in Despatches in recognition of gallant and distinguished service in North Africa. The operation was the Oran Landings, an assault on the port by HMS Walney and HMS Hartland, 8th November 1942. He formed one of the crew of No.3 Folbot with Corporal Sidlow, which was launched from HMS Walney. Served in the Far East and on the administration staff at SBS Headquarters.
Harold Wright, a Police Constable of the West Riding Constabulary, volunteered in 1942 and was posted 23 July 1942 to the 2nd Police Intake at the Commando Depot (Commando Basic Training Centre), Achnacarry. On 24 September 1942 he was posted from the Commando Depot to 2 Special Boat Section. Later posted 'C' Special Boat Group (India). Member of the Burma Star Association and the Commando Association. Resided Yorkshire.
