Corporal Harold Wright, 2 Special Boat Section, was Mentioned in Despatches in recognition of gallant and distinguished service in North Africa. The operation was the Oran Landings, an assault on the port by HMS Walney and HMS Hartland, 8th November 1942. He formed one of the crew of No.3 Folbot with Corporal Sidlow, which was launched from HMS Walney. Served in the Far East and on the administration staff at SBS Headquarters.
Harold Wright enlisted from the Police on 23 July 1942 - 2nd Police Intake to the Commando Depot (Commando Basic Training Centre) at Achnacarry. Posted from the Commando Depot 24 September 1942 to 2 Special Boat Section. Member of both the Burma Star Association and the Commando Association residing Yorkshire.
