Lance Corporal Georges Gicquel, 1st Batallion Fusiliers Marins Commando, badge no.163, was reported missing presumed killed after a patrol at Breville (Calvados). On the 24th May 1945 a report recorded the present view on his death as follows " Taken prisoner, tortured by the Germans, and left hanging from a tree."
