George Cooper 2 Commando
Private George Cooper served in 'B' Section, No.3 Sub-Section of 5 Troop, and later in the Mortar Section.
George was a Police Officer who volunteered for the commandos in 1942. He was married and his home address was at New Houghton, near Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. He was posted to the 2nd Police Intake which commenced 23 July 1942 at the Commando Depot (Commando Basic Training Centre), Achnacarry, and concluded 24 September 1942. He was then posted No.2 Commando who were based in Ayr before deployment overseas. George was billeted at 53 High Street, Ayr.

Notes
The death of Cpl. George Cooper, No.2 Commando was announced in CA Newsletter 119 issued Sept 2004 shown residing in Gorey in St Martin, Jersey. Born 1 Jun. 1918; died 5 Jan 2004. Possibly ident?
