Marine Frank O'Callaghan was killed [1] by a sniper while attached to 30 Commando AU during operations at Normandy. He had previously served with 40RM Commando [2].

Notes
  • The CWGC entry shows his unit as 40RM Commando.  That Commando was not engaged in the NW Europe theatre of operations at the time. They were operating as part of the CMF in 2 Commando Brigade. 
  • On the CWGC Grave Concentration Report for Mne. O'Callaghan he is listed as being buried next to Mne Henry Raymond Jeffcott who died on the same day as Mne. O'Callaghan, the 25th June 1944.  The CWGC show the unit for Mne Jeffcott as 30 RM Assault Unit.
  • ​The Westminster Abbey Commando ROH entry for Mne. O'Callaghan shows his unit as 30 Commando Assault Unit (identical to 30RM Assault Unit).
