Private Roy Felthouse, R.A.M.C. attached to 41RM Commando, was shot and wounded in the thigh 6 June 1944 as he was making his way from his landing craft to the beach at Normandy, France. In civil life he was a member of the composing room staff of the Burton Observer and Chronicle newspaper
