Francis Henry Preece, a Railway Porter from Cardiff, enlisted 16 October 1939. Volunteered for the Independent Companies when they were raised in April 1940. Posted No.2 Independent Company 2 May 1940. Embarked with Expeditionary Force to Norway 10 May 1940. Reported missing in action 26 May 1940 at Pothus, Norway, later confirmed a prisoner of war. Returned to UK 11 May 1945. Class 'A' Release 13 May 1946.
