Lance Corporal Edward Heckman died during operations at Dieppe, France. Son of Sydney Edward and Lilian May Heckman, of Reading, Berkshire, England; husband of Nancy Georgina Heckman, of Caversham, Reading. Prior to enlisting he was employed as a Clerical Officer at the Royal Mail, Reading.
