Ernest Atkin enlisted 27 August 1939, civil occupation Labourer. He later volunteered for the Commandos and was attached to No.7 Commando. Embarked for operations in the Middle East with Layforce. Lance Corporal Atkin was reported missing April 1941 in Cyrenaica (Bardia Raid), later confirmed a prisoner of war. Member of the Commando Association residing Hull.
