Douglas Pask was a Police Officer who volunteered for the Commandos. He enlisted on 23 July 1942 as part of the 2nd Police Intake to the Commando Depot (Commando Basic Training Centre), Achnacarry. The Royal Artillery Tracer Card in his name records that on 21 March 1943 he is posted 'Y' List and on 31 March 1943 he is at the Commando Depot. It is thought that he was attached to the staff at the Commando Depot.
In 1939 Police Constable Douglas Pask was residing at 51 Dodworth Road, Barnsley with his wife Nora whom he married in 1938, and her father. Douglas was in the Barnsley Borough Police Force and a member of their Police Swimming Club. His name is recorded as Lance Sergeant, Royal Artillery Commando, on a roll commemorating the 25 Barnsley Police Officers who served in HM Forces in WW2 currently located at the Police Station, Churchfield, Barnsley. Douglas and Nora at some stage moved to Stirlingshire and are both buried in Kippen Cemetery, Stirling.
