Reverend Derrick Lovell Williams, M.A., had been Curate of Christchurch, Stepney, during the London Blitz and was noted for his rescue work. He became known as the Fearless Padre [1]. He  received an emergency commission on 6 July 1943 as Chaplain to the Forces (4th Class) [2]. He died whilst Padre of 45RM Commando [3].

Notes
Newspaper reports record him as being killed in action on DDay 6 June 1944. The CWGC and the Government Probate Death Index (England and Wales) record his death as 5 June 1944.
