Marine Robert Facey, from Co. Durham, died after a fall at the RNH Haslar where he had been admitted for treatment. The Portsmouth Evening News reported that the South East Hampshire Coroner, Mr. R.N. Sherwell, recorded a verdit that he had taken his own life.

Marine Roy Moran from Prescot, Lancashire, died when the assault craft he was on board sank during a night training exercise in Plymouth Sound. Marine Norman Albert Gribble also died.
