Bertie Draper was a Police Constable at the County Police Station, Winchester, in 1939. He volunteered for the Commandos in 1942 joining the 2nd Police intake to the Commando Depot (Commando Basic Training Centre), Achnacarry, later being attached to the Heavy Weapons Troop of No.3 Commando. Wounded in Sicily and treated at 11 General Hospital, Middle East Forces. Post war member of the Commando Assocation from the Isle of Wight.
